New Ontario HART Hubs bring wraparound care to Sudbury and Renfrew County
As part of a major $550 million investment to expand public health care services across the province, Ontario has launched two new Homelessness and Addiction Recovery Treatment (HART) Hubs in Sudbury and Renfrew County. These centres are part of a network of 28 HART Hubs rolling out across Ontario to provide integrated, community-based mental health and addictions services.
Sudbury HART Hub Opening February 17, 2026
Located at 105 Elm Street, the Sudbury HART Hub will begin operations on February 17, 2026. The Hub will be led by Health Sciences North and supported by a collaborative partnership that includes the City of Greater Sudbury, Shkagamik-Kwe Health Centre, Monarch Recovery Services, the Canadian Mental Health Association – Sudbury/Manitoulin, and the Northern Initiative for Social Action (NISA).
Services offered will include:
- Primary care and mobile outreach
- Mental health and addiction treatment
- Supportive and transitional housing
- Peer support and skill-building programs
Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions Vijay Thanigasalam emphasized the goal of building a connected and compassionate recovery system, stating: “The opening of this new HART Hub will ensure that people struggling with mental health and addictions challenges in Greater Sudbury can access compassionate care and support services that prioritize recovery and community safety.”

Renfrew County HART Hub Opens in Pembroke
The Renfrew County HART Hub, located at 700 Mackay Street in Pembroke, is now operational. This Hub delivers services through a large network including Pembroke Regional Hospital, Carefor, MacKay Manor, the City of Pembroke, Ontario Addiction Treatment Centre, and numerous other health and Indigenous organizations. It offers 24/7 intake and case management, integrating:
- Primary and mental health care
- Addictions counselling
- Transitional housing and basic needs services
- Life skills and employment supports
The initiative is being hailed by local officials. Jennifer Murphy, Warden of the County of Renfrew, noted: “This is a community-led solution, made possible through collaboration and an unwavering belief that everyone deserves the chance to be well.”
Province-Wide Expansion of Public Health Care
Originally planning to launch 19 hubs, Ontario increased its target to 28 due to high demand and community needs. Nine existing consumption and treatment sites have transitioned to HART Hubs, and the province is adding nearly 900 supportive housing units as part of the expansion. Two Indigenous-led Hubs will serve Kenora and Sault Ste. Marie/Blind River/Sagamok communities, providing culturally relevant care.
These Hubs are part of Ontario’s broader “Your Health” strategy and the 10-year, $3.8 billion Roadmap to Wellness plan to improve public health care access and outcomes across the province.
