NORTH BAY — The Oshawa Generals opened their 2025/26 OHL season with a 4–2 road loss to the North Bay Battalion at Boart Longyear Memorial Gardens. Despite flashes of strong play, the Generals couldn’t recover from North Bay’s early lead.
Game Recap
North Bay struck quickly, opening the scoring just 2:37 into the first period before adding a second midway through the frame. Oshawa answered late in the period when Vadim Smirnov capitalized on a setup from Colin Feeley and Lucas Teixeira, cutting the deficit to 2–1.
The second period was defined by special teams. The Battalion extended their lead on a power-play goal at 10:35, but the Generals responded just three minutes later. Sam Roberts converted on the man advantage, assisted by Brooks Rogowski and Onni Kalto, to pull Oshawa back within one.
The Generals pressed in the third, outshooting the Battalion 14–9, but North Bay goaltender Mike McIvor shut the door. An empty-net goal in the final minute sealed the 4–2 result for the home side.
