Perspective: Jody Wilson-Raybould: The woman who fought Justin Trudeau

The Honourable Jody Wilson-Raybould, P.C., M.P. Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada

Perspective:

Yes Jody Wilson-Raybould did fight Trudeau her boss in the Liberal Party and may have caused some damage to his image as a feminist, but it exposed a bit not so peasant underbelly of disloyalty, nativity and betrayal.

Disloyalty

In the Westminster form of parliamentary democracy, each MP is expected to toe the party line especially in public. Privately you may have reservations and engage the powers at be in vigorous debate… this is never done in the public domain. This was not the case. Jody Wilson-Raybould as a Lawyer, Attorney-General and Justice Minister should have known better. She betrayed the trust of her office. The oath she took as a Cabinet officer/Caucus member that left Trudeau, the PM with no option, but to drop her from his team.

Political Price

There appears to have been a political price for Trudeau to pay for Jody’ et al’s action. It seem to have given the Conservatives some fire in their belly and a great kick start to their almost non existent campaign. Many did not know of Andrew Scheer, the Conservative leader prior to the SNC Lavalin affair and spat in the Liberal Party between Jody and Justin was a virtual unknown. It also exposed the not so pleasant underbelly of disunity within the ranks of the Liberal Party at the highest level. The Liberals were at war with themselves and this may have cost them much political capital. Trudeau also did many missteps also. The 22nd of October 2019 will tell the true tale when the voters speak through the ballot box.

Trudeau

Blackface, Jody and Philpots departures, two ethics violations and the SNC Lavalin matters could have been avoided or handled differently. It may be judged later as poor leadership on the PM Trudeau’s part. The buck stops with him as is well known.

It is my further perspective that she deserved what she got. To be disloyal in the army would meet with dishonourable discharge and even arrest for treason. As usual the verdict is yours.

Conclusion

You are expected to be a loyalist in politics and toe the party line. Politics is not a Sunday School affair. It was raw politics which calls for tact and diplomacy to say the least. You may say better two face certainly not brown or blackface.
