The Pickleball Canada has selected Pickleplex Social Club as the host venue for the 2026 Pickleball Canada National Championship, set to take place from August 25 to 30, 2026, across Pickleplex’s Downsview and Vaughan locations in the Greater Toronto Area.

The national championship will be staged across 21 indoor pickleball courts over five days, bringing together Canada’s top athletes, officials, volunteers, and spectators for one of the sport’s premier annual events. Purpose-built pickleball facilities at both locations are expected to provide a high-level competitive environment as the sport continues its rapid growth nationwide.

GTA selected for national showcase event

Pickleplex Social Club’s Downsview and Vaughan venues were chosen for their scale, modern design, and ability to host large multi-day tournaments entirely indoors. The championship will feature competition in women’s and men’s singles, women’s and men’s doubles, mixed doubles, and the Provincial Team Competition (PTC).

“It’s an honour to host Canada’s top pickleball athletes for this year’s national championship, and our team is already hard at work with Pickleball Canada to create a fantastic experience for players coming from all over the country,” said Steven Fry, co-founder and CEO of Pickleplex Social Club.

The event is expected to draw participants from coast to coast, reinforcing the GTA’s growing role as a hub for major national sporting events beyond traditional professional leagues.

Provincial Team Competition gains expanded importance

In 2026, the Provincial Team Competition will take on an expanded role within Pickleball Canada’s athlete development pathway. Performance in the PTC will serve as one of the evaluation criteria for selection into Pickleball Canada’s National Development Program, a key step in identifying and developing athletes as Canada strengthens its international pickleball presence.

“The National Championship brings together individuals from across Canada to build a thriving pickleball community,” said Barry Petrachenko, executive director of Pickleball Canada. “We can’t wait to work with Pickleplex to grow the event and unlock new opportunities for the sport.”

A landmark event for Canadian pickleball

With participation levels continuing to rise nationwide, the 2026 Pickleball Canada National Championship is positioned as a milestone event for the sport, combining elite competition with community building and long-term athlete development.

More information about the host venue is available at Pickleplex Social Club’s official website, while tournament and organizational details can be found through Pickleball Canada.
