TORONTO — Super Bowl Sunday is shaping up to be one of the busiest food-ordering days of the year for Pizza Nova, with the Ontario-based pizza chain projecting a sharp spike in demand driven by watch parties, game-day traditions, and the added momentum of National Pizza Day falling the very next day.

According to Pizza Nova, overall sales on Super Bowl Sunday are expected to nearly double compared to a typical Sunday, with chicken wing sales projected to triple as fans stock up for game-day gatherings. Locations across Ontario are also expected to use more than 12,000 pounds of cheese in a single day to meet demand.

Chicken Wings and Pepperoni Lead Game-Day Orders

Game-day ordering trends continue to favour crowd-friendly menu items. Pizza Nova reports that party-size pizzas remain the most popular choice for Super Bowl Sunday, with pepperoni consistently ranking as the top topping among customers.

On the sides menu, chicken wings are the clear favourite, followed by garlic bread as the most commonly ordered side item. When it comes to dips, creamy garlic parmesan leads the list, while Coca-Cola is the beverage most frequently added to Super Bowl orders.

Super Bowl Weekend Gets an Extra Boost in 2026

This year’s Super Bowl lands on Sunday, February 8, immediately followed by National Pizza Day on February 9, creating a rare back-to-back surge for pizza demand across the province. Pizza Nova expects this timing to extend elevated ordering volumes throughout the entire weekend rather than peaking for a single day.

The company says the combination of football viewing, group gatherings, and a nationally recognized food celebration is likely to reinforce pizza’s role as the go-to meal for large-scale sporting events.

Operational Impact Across Ontario Locations

To meet demand, Pizza Nova locations across Ontario are preparing for increased staffing, inventory, and production capacity. Chicken wings remain the most operationally intensive item due to volume spikes, while cheese usage is expected to reach one of the highest single-day totals of the year.

Super Bowl Sunday has historically ranked among Pizza Nova’s busiest days annually, reflecting broader consumer trends that prioritize convenience, shareable meals, and familiar comfort foods during major live sporting events.
