Premier Ford Shares Greetings on the Beginning of Eid al-Fitr

Prime Minister on Eid al-Fitr

TORONTO ― Today, Premier Doug Ford issued the following statement to mark the beginning of Eid al-Fitr:

“Eid al-Fitr is a time of joy and celebration for members of the Muslim community here in Ontario and around the world, and a chance for us to acknowledge the incredible contributions Ontario’s Muslim community makes to our province.

As the sun sets this evening and the holy month of Ramadan concludes, the faithful will gather to reflect on the spiritual lessons learned during Ramadan, including self-control, compassion, generosity and discipline.

Eid al-Fitr, the Festival of Breaking the Fast, will be celebrated by Muslims across the world through shared meals, friendship and the exchange of gifts. We celebrate all that Muslim communities contribute to Ontario’s history and society.

On behalf of my family, I wish you a blessed Eid. May this time bring peace, joy and prosperity to all our Muslim friends and neighbours.

Eid Mubarak!”
