TORONTO ― Today, Premier Doug Ford issued the following statement to mark the beginning of Passover:

“Once the sun sets tonight, Jewish families in Ontario and around the world will gather to celebrate the beginning of Passover, one of the most sacred and meaningful times in the Jewish calendar.

Around the Seder table, families will share the story of Exodus and their forefathers, who overcame hardship to build a better life, and how every generation is called on to do that in their own way. They will also share cherished traditions, ask the Four Questions, and reflect on what it means to live in freedom, something we should never take for granted here in Ontario.

It’s a time to come together, to reflect on faith, family and the values that unite us — justice, resilience and hope. It’s also a reminder that we must keep standing up to antisemitism, hate and discrimination, wherever we see it.

To Ontario’s Jewish community, thank you for all the incredible contributions you make to our province. I wish you and your loved ones a peaceful and joyous holiday.

Chag Pesach Sameach!”
