Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, along with Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, Infrastructure and Communities Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Labour Seamus O’Regan Jr., and Minister of Rural Economic Development Gudie Hutchings, met with Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Dr. Andrew Furey to discuss shared priorities.

The Premier thanked the Prime Minister for the federal support provided to Newfoundland and Labrador during the recent floods as well as the cyber-attack on the province’s health care system.

The two leaders spoke about issues of importance to the province as well as the ongoing partnership between both governments on health care, mental health, immigration, climate change, reconciliation, and energy and resource development – including the Lower Churchill Projects.

The Prime Minister and Premier spoke about their commitment to continuing to work together in the fight against COVID-19 and advance other priorities of importance to Newfoundlanders and Labradorians and all Canadians. They agreed to remain in close contact.
