Ring in the New Year at the Andy Kim New Year’s Eve Gala

A musical holiday tradition returns to Burlington this month, when iconic performer Andy Kim and his famously talented friends return to the Burlington Performing Arts Centre’s Main Stage for the Andy Kim New Year’s Eve Gala.

The concert, famous for blending music, storytelling, holiday cheer and some of the best performers in Canada, is the brainchild of host and performer Andy Kim, best known for his international hits Rock Me Gently and Sugar SugarAndy Kim has been gathering friends and fans together to celebrate the spirit and generosity of the musical community in Toronto for 17 years, with all proceeds going to charity. In recognition of the over $2 million in support that his holiday concerts have raised for CAMH and numerous other charities, Toronto Mayor John Tory recently proclaimed December 8th ‘Andy Kim Day’.

This year’s Andy Kim New Year’s Eve Gala will be the third time the classic variety entertainment show will grace the BPAC stage. Proceeds from this year’s concert go to BPAC’s Golden Ticket Program, which provides free access to live entertainment and education opportunities to students and families who would otherwise not be able to access the transformative power of the performing arts.

“We couldn’t be happier to return to live entertainment and welcome back our audiences with Andy Kim and all the amazing performers who will help us ring in 2022 with music and laughter,” said BPAC Executive Director Tammy Fox. “Andy has given back so much for so long with his holiday fundraising shows, and we are humbled and honoured to be included in his incredible acts of generosity. It also promises to be the best New Year’s Eve party around!”

The Canadian Music Hall of Famer will be joined in Burlington by host and improviser extraordinaire Seán Cullen, 3x Juno Award winner Ron SexsmithChris Murphy of Sloan, Canada’s Queen of R&B and soul Jully Black and singer/songwriter Danny Michel.

Fans can take advantage of a limited number of exclusive VIP tickets, which includes a post-show meet and greet reception with the performers, with complimentary hors d’oeuvres and sparkling wine to help celebrate the New Year.

As per Ontario guidelines, all patrons must show proof of COVID-19 double vaccination to be permitted entry into the facility. The Burlington Performing Arts Centre is pleased to accommodate our patrons at 100% capacity in our facilities. 

ARTISTS 

Andy Kim: A Canadian music icon, Andy Kim has been awarded the country’s top industry honours including the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame and a star on Canada’s Walk Of Fame. Andy is a member of Songwriters Hall of Fame, was inducted into Billboard’s Hit Parade Hall of Fame, and in 2017, For the 2nd time in their 70-year history, SOCAN honoured Andy with their Cultural Impact Award. Over his epic career, Andy has sold over 30 million records, and has over half a billion streams on Spotify and YouTube.

Seán Cullen: Nimble master of improvisation and accomplished impressionist who delights in the absurd and for three decades, Seán Cullen has dominated the Canadian comedy scene as an award-winning comedian, actor, recording artist, author and screenwriter.

Ron Sexsmith: A three-time JUNO award-winner from St. Catharines, Ron Sexsmith has released 16 albums during his extensive career, and has headlined at Massey Hall and Royal Albert Hall.

Chris Murphy: 1/4 of Sloan. 1/3 of TUNS. 1/4 of the Trans-Canada Highwaymen. 1/4 of the Anyway Gang. Sloan is one of Canada’s most prominent rock acts of the 1990s and early aughts, having scored numerous hits including “Money City Maniacs” and “The Rest of My Life”.

Jully Black: is a true Canadian Icon. Named as one of ‘The 25 Greatest Canadian Singers Ever’, (CBC Music) she has been dubbed ‘Canada’s Queen of R&B Soul’. As a platinum-selling recording artist, her music career has yielded multiple singles reaching the Top 10 pop, R&B, and dance music charts. She has taken home Juno and Gemini Awards, earned innumerable industry accolades, and was hand-selected to sing for the Queen of England. With her powerhouse vocals, hilarious personality, and love of people, Jully Black truly is every woman.

Danny Michel: A prolific and beloved Canadian singer/songwriter whose thoughtful lyrics & charming performances have earned a devoted fan base, multiple nominations for Junos, The Polaris Prize, CBC’s “Heart Of Gold”, and most recently winning the CFMA’s “Producer of the year” and “Oliver Schroder Pushing the Boundaries” Awards.
