Last week, we brought you to the serene, sakura-lined streets of Kyoto. This week, we’re taking a sharp turn — quite literally — to one of the world’s most thrilling racing circuits: Suzuka, Japan.

With the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix roaring into town on Sunday, April 6, the small city of Suzuka becomes a global hotspot, drawing race fans from around the world. But this isn’t just a motorsport weekend — it’s a chance to experience a high-octane blend of speed, tradition, and travel-worthy sights.

🏎️ For the F1 Fans

The Suzuka International Racing Course is legendary — home to one of the most technical, high-speed, figure-eight tracks in all of Formula 1. Whether you’re in the grandstands or watching from a hillside with a bento box in hand, the atmosphere is electric.

Expect packed trains, buzzing izakayas, and a surge of global fans wearing their team colours. From the early practice sessions to race day drama, Suzuka is a bucket-list circuit for anyone who loves F1.

🏯 For the Curious Traveler

Not a diehard race fan? No problem. The surrounding Mie Prefecture offers tranquil temples, serene beaches, and some of the best wagyu beef in Japan. Take a scenic walk along the Ise Shrine grounds, or hop a train to Nagoya for museums, castle visits, and shopping.

Better yet, pair your Grand Prix getaway with a few extra days in Kyoto or Tokyo — both under 2 hours away by train. In early April, you’ll still catch the tail end of cherry blossom season in many parts of the region.

🍱 What to Eat, See & Try

  • Trackside eats: Try yakitori, Japanese curry, and local sake from Suzuka’s festival-style food stalls

  • Don’t miss: The Suzuka Circuit Theme Park — yes, there’s a full amusement park inside the racetrack

  • Pro tip: Book your Shinkansen tickets early, and consider flying into Nagoya’s Chubu Centrair Airport for easiest access

✈️ Final Lap

Whether you’re racing toward race day or simply seeking a cultural detour, Suzuka offers the perfect mix of action and authenticity. This weekend, Japan isn’t just hosting a Grand Prix — it’s opening a gateway to a different kind of adventure.

Ready to shift gears? Suzuka is waiting.
