The Brampton Steelheads have announced a new partnership with Canadian professional golfer Monet Chun, aligning the Ontario Hockey League club with one of the country’s emerging talents on the international golf stage.

The collaboration brings together two high-performance sports organizations with a shared emphasis on discipline, preparation, and community engagement. As part of the partnership, Chun will work with the Steelheads on community initiatives, brand visibility, and cross-promotional opportunities throughout the season.

Connecting elite sport with community impact

Chun, a Richmond Hill, Ontario native, currently competes on the Epson Tour, the official qualifying tour for the LPGA. She captured the 2022 Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship and has competed at Augusta National in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. During her collegiate career, Chun helped lead the University of Michigan women’s golf team to its first Big Ten conference championship in program history.

“I’m excited to partner with the Brampton Steelheads, an organization known for its competitive spirit and strong connection to the community,” Chun said. “Hockey and golf may be different sports, but the dedication, preparation, and mental toughness required to succeed are very much the same.”

Shared values across sports

Steelheads management described the partnership as an opportunity to introduce fans to a rising Canadian athlete whose career reflects professionalism and perseverance beyond the hockey rink.

“Monet Chun represents the values we strive to promote within our organization,” said Michael Hastings, Vice President, Team Services & Business Operations with the Steelheads. “This partnership allows us to support an elite athlete while creating meaningful experiences for our fans and community.”

Expanding the local sports ecosystem

The partnership will include brand integration, social media activations, and appearances, designed to strengthen the connection between Brampton’s hockey community and elite Canadian athletes competing on the national and international stage.

By partnering with Chun, the Steelheads continue to position themselves as a community-focused organization that supports excellence across multiple sports while highlighting local talent with global reach.
