Today, Mayor John Tory announced that Team Toronto’s vaccination efforts have reached another milestone, administering more than 7 million COVID-19 vaccine doses.
Mayor Tory made the announcement with Toronto’s Medical Officer of Health Dr. Eileen de Villa during a visit to the City of Toronto’s newest COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Metro Hall (214 Wellington Street W.).
As of April 28, more than 89.5 per cent of residents age five and older have received the first dose, while 86.1 per cent have gotten two doses, and more than 65.7 per cent of eligible residents have also received a third dose. Vaccination coverage data is updated every Friday on the City’s COVID 19: Vaccine Data webpage: www.toronto.ca/home/covid-19/c
Toronto Public Health continues to work hard with Team Toronto partners to bring needed doses to residents so they can stay up-to-date with their COVID-19 vaccinations. Toronto is the first major Canadian city to administer more than 7 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Residents can get vaccinated by appointment or walk-in at the five City immunization clinics, more than 525 local pharmacies that are offering the COVID-19 vaccine, Indigenous-led vaccination clinics, select primary care offices and other Team Toronto health care partner clinics. More information, including where to get vaccinated and hours of operation, is available on the City’s COVID-19: Where to Get Vaccinated webpage: www.toronto.ca/home/covid-19/c
TPH continues to encourage residents to get vaccinated, if they have not already done so. Staying up-to-date with vaccine doses will reduce the risk of getting, spreading, and becoming seriously sick with COVID-19, potentially leading to hospitalization, intubation and death. More information about COVID-19 vaccines is available on the City’s COVID-19: Vaccines webpage: www.toronto.ca/home/covid-19/c
