This morning, Toronto Mayor John Tory was joined at a Thorncliffe Park mobile vaccination clinic by Medical Officer of Health Dr. Eileen de Villa and Toronto Paramedic Services Chief Paul Raftis to promote Team Toronto mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinics happening across the city.

Mobile clinics offering COVID-19 vaccination, as well as testing, have been a part of the City of Toronto and Team Toronto’s COVID-19 strategy for months. During any given week, there are more than 100 mobile clinics deployed across the city, predominately in neighbourhoods with low vaccination and/or high COVID-19 case rates. Clinics are staffed by Toronto Paramedics, Toronto Public Health and Team Toronto partners including Michael Garron Hospital and The Neighbourhood Organization. In locations that do not have adequate indoor space for a clinic, clinics take place in TTC buses, reducing barriers for individuals in some of the city’s most vulnerable neighbourhoods.

Toronto Public Health mobile clinics have now administered more than 10,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine across Toronto. As Team Toronto continues to transition to a micro-targeted approach for vaccination, bringing vaccines to places Torontonians live, work and play, these successful mobile clinics are more important than ever.

Today’s Thorncliffe Park clinic is the most recent of 19 mobile clinics supported by Toronto Paramedics in Don Valley West. The team runs clinics Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at different locations across East York, Flemingdon Park and Thorncliffe Park. The 19 clinics have administered more than 500 doses of COVID-19 vaccine. Today’s clinic will run until 3:30 p.m.

Other mobile clinics happening this week include:
•       Jane Subway Station, October 6 to 8 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
•       Sheppard-Yonge Subway Station, October 6 to 8 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
•       Martin Grove Mall, October 6 to 10 from 12:30 to 7 p.m.
•       Buchanan Public School, October 8 from 4 to 7 p.m.
•       Weston Park Baptist Church, October 9 from noon to 4 p.m.
•       Waterfront Neighbourhood Centre, October 9 from noon to 4 p.m.

Quotes:

“It is great to be in Thorncliffe Park this morning and to see our TTC bus mobile vaccination clinics in action thanks to Toronto Paramedic Services, Toronto Public Health, TTC, Michael Garron Hospital and The Neighbourhood Organization. We are making great progress getting people vaccinated and that is something we can all be thankful for as Thanksgiving approaches. We are on the road to our 90 per cent vaccination target and the clinics on these buses are going to help us get there.”
– Mayor John Tory

“The mobile clinics and pop-ups operated by the City of Toronto, the TTC, and our Team Toronto partners have been instrumental in increasing vaccination rates in Thorncliffe Park and in other vulnerable communities throughout the City. As we close in on our target of 90% the eligible population being fully vaccinated, it’s critical that we continue to employ strategies which meet people where they are and reduce barriers to immunization.”
– Councillor Jaye Robinson (Don Valley West), Chair of the Toronto Transit Commission

“Our Team Toronto partners continue to work hard to bring COVID-19 vaccines to residents in all areas of our city.  Today is another great example of the team’s hard work to make it as convenient as possible for Torontonians to enjoy the protection that being fully vaccinated provides. COVID-19 and the more transmissible Delta variant continue to circulate in our city, so it’s still as important as ever for residents to get fully vaccinated as quickly as possible. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to get fully vaccinated protect yourself, your loved ones and people around you.”
– Dr. Eileen de Villa, Medical Officer of Health

“I am so proud of the dedication of our Paramedics and for their important work as part of the City’s vaccination efforts. Hundreds of residents have received their COVID-19 vaccinations because we were able to bring the shots right to them. But we can’t do it alone and are grateful to our valued partners who have all contributed to the success of this program.”
– Chief Paul Raftis, Toronto Paramedic Services
