Team Toronto vaccination milestone: 90 per cent of Toronto residents age 12 and older have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine

Team Toronto’s continuing vaccination efforts have now resulted in 90 per cent of eligible Toronto residents age 12 and older having received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, with more than 87 per cent having received two doses. This marks a significant milestone in the City of Toronto’s fight against the COVID-19 virus and its variants.

Team Toronto has now also administered first doses to 51 per cent of five- to 11-year-olds in the city. Including doses administered to children age five to 11 and people age 12 and older, 2,692,029 first doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Toronto, with the number growing every day.

The opportunities for Toronto residents to receive a first, second or third dose are many, with more than 20,000 appointments available at City-run clinics from now through to February 19. This Sunday, January 23, Team Toronto will also be holding Vax The Northwest – a mass vaccination event at York University’s Aviva Centre in Northwest Toronto, focused on vaccinating people from neighbourhoods experiencing lower vaccination rates.

While first-dose vaccination rates have reached 90 per cent, there is still work to be done. Toronto Public Health reminds residents that the COVID-19 Omicron variant continues to spread and the urgent need for those eligible to receive a third dose of vaccine remains. Any residents who have not yet received their first or second COVID-19 vaccine are encouraged to do so as soon as possible. COVID-19 vaccines lower the risk of serious illness, hospitalization and death, while protecting oneself, loved ones and the community.

Today, Team Toronto partners will administer thousands of vaccines at City-run clinics, hospital partner clinics, more than 525 local pharmacies and doctors’ offices, including the following clinic locations:

City-run immunization clinics
The five City-run immunization clinics continue to add new appointments for first, second and third doses of COVID-19 vaccine. To book an appointment, click the blue “Book a Vaccine” button on www.toronto.ca/covid-19 or call 1-833-943-3900. City-run clinics are easily accessible by transit and offer free parking on site. Clinic staff are also able to provide resources in multiple languages. A person with a vaccination appointment can also bring a support person to help with translation.

While City-run clinics and health care partners across the province await further shipments of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine later this month, all City of Toronto-run clinics will administer the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to residents 30 years of age and older.

People with vaccination appointments are asked to arrive no more than 10 minutes early to vaccination clinics. There will be vaccine doses available for everyone who has an appointment; arriving earlier than necessary does not impact availability. There are no walk-in appointments at City-run vaccination clinics. More information on City-operated immunization clinic transportation options and on-site amenities is available on the City’s COVID-19: How to Get Vaccinated webpage: www.toronto.ca/home/covid-19/covid-19-vaccines/covid-19-how-to-get-vaccinated/.
