Residents who have yet to get their first or second dose of the vaccine are encouraged to get their dose at one of six TTC subway station clinics held today. #VaxInTheSix began on Thursday, October 21, and continues until today from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Bathurst, Finch West, Islington, Kennedy, St. Clair West and Union stations.
Today, Mayor John Tory was joined by Councillor Joe Cressy (Spadina-Fort York) and TTC CEO Rick Leary at Bathurst subway station to mark the last day of the #VaxInTheSix campaign and to encourage people to get their first and second doses.
The campaign is a Team Toronto partnership between Toronto Public Health (TPH), the TTC, Humber River Hospital, Michael Garron Hospital and East Toronto Health Partners and the City of Toronto.
The clinics, which offer first and second doses of Moderna and Pfizer vaccines on a walk-in basis, were selected by TPH as part of the Team Toronto Mobile Strategy data approach aimed to continue removing barriers and bringing vaccines to residents in areas and settings with low vaccination rates and to residents who are at high risk of contracting COVID-19.
On the first day of #VaxInTheSix, Team Toronto vaccination partners administered 225 doses of COVID-19 vaccine across the city at the six subway clinics. Below is a breakdown of doses by subway station:
• Bathurst – 38 doses
• Finch West – 46 doses
• Islington – 33 doses
• Kennedy – 52 doses
• St. Clair West – 35 doses
• Union – 21 doses
Progress continues to be made, clinic by clinic and dose by dose, to reach 90 per cent of eligible Torontonians being fully vaccinated. The City announced this week that 83 per cent of residents 12 and older are now fully vaccinated and 87.2 per cent of residents have received one vaccine dose.
