
TORONTO – The city of Toronto will celebrate the start of Bike Month 2025 with a community ride to work on Wednesday, June 4, inviting cyclists of all ages and experience levels to take part in the city’s annual Bike to Work Day Group Commute.
The morning event begins at 7:30 a.m., with a group of cyclists departing Ramsden Park (Yonge Street and Pears Avenue) and making their way downtown under the guidance of Cycle Toronto ride leaders. Mayor Olivia Chow, Toronto City Councillors, and representatives from Bike Share Toronto will join the ride, which culminates in a community pancake breakfast and celebration at Nathan Phillips Square.
Bike Month is Toronto’s month-long initiative that promotes cycling as a sustainable, healthy, and accessible mode of transportation. This year’s kickoff event highlights the city’s growing commitment to improving its cycling infrastructure and encouraging more residents to choose active transportation.
A limited number of free Bike Share Toronto bikes will be available at Ramsden Park for participants, with prior sign-up required. Staff from Bike Share Toronto will also be at the square to assist with bike returns after the event.

Why Bike Month Matters
The City of Toronto continues to invest in its cycling network to support clean mobility, reduce congestion, and encourage daily physical activity. Maps of Toronto’s bike lanes and trails can be found online, offering resources for new riders and longtime cyclists alike.
In a statement ahead of the event, Mayor Olivia Chow emphasized the city’s commitment to safe cycling:
“Bike Month is an opportunity to celebrate the joy of cycling and to reaffirm our commitment to being a city where everyone can cycle safely and confidently.”
Cycle Toronto Executive Director Michael Longfield echoed the message of inclusion, noting the importance of the group commute:
“Bike Month isn’t just for ‘avid cyclists’. This month-long celebration enables and empowers more people to choose to ride a bike for recreation and transportation.”
