Toronto Elections to host virtual information session on becoming a candidate in 2022 municipal election

On Thursday, April 21, Toronto Elections will host a virtual information session on becoming a candidate in this year’s municipal election for those interested in running for the offices of Mayor, Councillor or School Board Trustee.

The first day to file a nomination paper to run for one of these offices is Monday, May 2. The City of Toronto’s municipal election will take place on Monday, October 24 to elect a Mayor, City Councillors and Trustees for the city’s four school boards.

Toronto Elections will host two identical virtual information sessions on becoming a candidate in the City’s municipal election, including an introduction to the new appointment booking system for candidate nominations. Staff will be available to answer questions from participants.

Accommodation requests can be made up to 72 hours in advance of the sessions by emailing Toronto Elections: candidateinfo@toronto.ca.

A new appointment booking system will launch soon for people to reserve a timeslot to file nominations at the Toronto Elections City Hall office. Prospective candidates are encouraged to book an appointment to file their nomination, which will ensure quick service, minimize wait times and reduce crowding.
