Toronto Fire Services (TFS) is proud to announce it has maintained accreditation status from the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) following the Commission’s acceptance of its Annual Compliance Report (ACR). The ACR was submitted in February and was validated by CFAI representatives in April 2022. The city of Toronto is the largest city with an accredited fire service in North America.
CFAI international accreditation validates the City of Toronto’s dedication to providing residents, visitors and businesses with industry-leading fire protection services. CFAI accreditation is third-party confirmation of TFS’ commitment to continuously monitor performance, evaluate results against best practices and deliver fire protection services that meet the needs of Toronto residents.
The CFAI accreditation program provides a framework for fire services to set goals, develop evidence-based strategic action plans and improve fire protection services

“Successfully completing the ACR is always a challenging piece of work, but never more so than during the challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. On behalf of TFS Command team, I extend my sincere thanks to all those involved in our ongoing journey of continuous improvement, especially during these challenging times. I would like to highlight the extraordinary leadership of Deputy Fire Chief Tony Bavota, who serves as our Accreditation Manager and once again led the team that completed this demanding process. We are truly privileged to have Tony’s expertise and leadership on our TFS Command Team.”
