Toronto Maple Leafs fall to the Arizona Coyotes 5-4 in OT

The Toronto Maple Leafs lost on the road to the Arizona Coyotes. The game was close going to overtime with a score of 4-4 but saw the Maple Leafs give up the first goal with 2:43 minutes left in the overtime period. The result a 5-4 loss for the blue and white.

The Toronto Maple Leafs had goaltending issues as it didn’t seem like starting goalie Petr Mrazek’s head was in the game.  He let in what looked like 2 clumsy goals 2 minutes into the first period.

The leafs were down 1-4 after the first 2 periods before Petr Mrazek got pulled. Thus lead the team to rally from behind and tie the game 4-4 in the 3rd period.

Toronto Marlies goalie Erik Kallgren got the backup call.  This lead to his first NHL minutes with the big club and helped the team come from behind with his stelar goaltending.

“He made our team feel comfortable and confident” … “I think our fans recognize that” said Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe speaking on the play of rookie goalie Erik Kallgren.

The Leafs next game is on Sunday March 13, 2022 against the Buffalo Sabres.
