Kyiv, Ukraine – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez in Kyiv today, where they joined other world leaders to mark the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The visit underscored Canada and Spain’s continued commitment to supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.

During their discussions, Trudeau and Sánchez reaffirmed their unwavering support for a just and sustainable peace in Ukraine. Both leaders stressed that any resolution to the ongoing conflict must include Ukraine at the negotiating table, ensuring the country’s long-term security and sovereignty. Canada and Spain have been vocal in their condemnation of the regime’s actions and have called for a return to democratic norms in the South American nation.

Trudeau and Sánchez agreed to maintain close cooperation on key global issues, including climate action and multilateralism. Both leaders pledged to continue working together on shared priorities, further strengthening the ties between Canada and Spain on the world stage.
