Toronto residents have a number of options to get their first or second dose of COVID-19 vaccine this Halloween weekend, as dozens of community-based vaccine clinics are in operation, as part of the Vax and Treat vaccination push.
Today, Mayor John Tory, Councillor John Filion (Willowdale), and Board of Health Chair and Councillor Joe Cressy (Spadina-Fort York) visited a vaccination clinic at the Yonge-Sheppard Centre to highlight Team Toronto’s Vax and Treat initiative and to encourage people to get their first or second dose.
Clinics at Yonge-Sheppard Centre and Lawrence-Allen Centre are open today and tomorrow from noon to 5 p.m. and will continue operating from Thursdays to Sundays throughout November.
Other Vax and Treat clinics are open at malls, hospitals, schools and community centres today and tomorrow. Hours vary and no appointments are required.
Information on Vax and Treat vaccine clinics can be found on the City of Toronto’s website: www.toronto.ca/home/covid-19/c
Vax and Treat clinics have been selected by Toronto Public Health, as part of the Team Toronto Mobile Strategy data approach aimed to continue removing barriers and bringing vaccines to residents in areas and settings with low vaccination rates and to residents who are at high risk of contracting COVID-19.
Steady progress has been made toward Team Toronto’s goal of 90 per cent of eligible Toronto residents being fully vaccinated and in increasing vaccination rates in neighbourhoods that have had the lowest rates in the city. Between the end of August and the end of October, the Willowdale East neighbourhood saw a 13 per cent drop in the number of eligible residents who remain unvaccinated. Currently, 83.7 per cent of eligible Toronto residents are fully vaccinated and 87.5 per cent have received at least their first dose.

“This Halloween weekend’s Vax and Treat push highlights neighbourhood walk-in clinics in malls, schools, hospital and community centres – places where people will find it easy to pop by to get their first or second dose. I thank our clinic partners for creating these safe and accessible vaccination options, and residents for taking advantage of them. If you’re not vaccinated yet, please get vaccinated this Halloween weekend to help protect yourself and to protect the progress we have made fighting COVID-19.”
