“Your commitment to weekly cycling events and creating a sense of community in Mississauga doesn’t go unnoticed,” said Ward 2 Councillor Alvin Tedjo, Chair of the MCAC. “Well done and keep up the excellent work!”
Throughout the spring, summer, and fall months, club members gather for regular Saturday and Sunday morning rides, while colder months see the group switch gears to include indoor cycling, mountain biking, skating, skiing, and other fitness activities.
But their impact goes beyond fitness. The Việt GTA Cycling Club has also been involved in local clean-up events such as litter removal at Saigon Park, and they’ve raised funds for nonprofit organizations in Peel Region.
“The Việt GTA Cycling Club has been a vibrant part of our community,” said Ward 3 Councillor Chris Fonseca, Vice-Chair of the MCAC. “Thank you for your dedication and commitment to cycling in Mississauga. You’ve made a remarkable impact.”
The Phil Green Award is named in honour of the late Phil Green, a founding member of MCAC and a passionate advocate for sustainable transportation in Mississauga. His legacy lives on through local efforts that help build a safer, greener, and healthier city.
