Brampton Records Sixth Homicide, Bradford Sees First Murder Charge of 2025
Two more communities in the GTA were shaken this past week as separate homicide investigations unfolded in Brampton and Bradford. Peel Regional Police and South Simcoe Police are leading the respective cases, bringing Brampton’s homicide count to six for 2025 and marking the first murder reported in Bradford this year.
Brampton: Fatal Stabbing Under Investigation
Just after 12:30 a.m. on August 5, 205 in downtown Brampton, a violent altercation near Centre Street and Queen Street East resulted in one woman’s death and two men severely injured. Peel Regional Police report a hatchet or similar weapon was used. A male suspect is in custody and scheduled for bail hearings later this week.
Authorities have treated the scene as an isolated incident and say there’s no broader threat to the public.
This incident marks Brampton’s sixth homicide of the year. Police have not yet released the victim’s identity and continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal encounter.
Anyone with information, surveillance footage, or dashcam video is urged to contact Peel homicide detectives or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
Bradford: 25-Year-Old Charged with First-Degree Murder
On July 31, South Simcoe Police conducted a well-being check at a home on Britannia Avenue in Bradford West Gwillimbury.
Inside, officers discovered a deceased individual. Another person found in the residence was taken into custody. A 25-year-old Bradford man has since been charged with first-degree murder and remains in custody following a bail hearing on August 1 at the Barrie Courthouse.
This is Bradford’s first recorded homicide in 2025. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact Acting Detective Jason Bellamy at (905) 775-3311, ext. 1072.
