BRAMPTON — The Brampton Honey Badgers have added another weapon to their 2025 Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) roster, signing American guard William Douglas ahead of Sunday’s season opener against the Montréal Alliance.
The 6-foot-5 Memphis native brings an impressive international résumé, most recently appearing with Guaynabo in Puerto Rico, where he averaged 8.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.3 steals across 12 games. Douglas also starred for the Guangzhou Loong Lions in China over a 37-game stretch during the 2024–25 campaign, leading the team in total points (610), assists (148), and steals (74).
“Will is a tough competitor and a high level defender,” said Honey Badgers General Manager and VP of Basketball Operations Jermaine Anderson. “He has shown a lot of growth throughout his career and wants to improve all aspects of his game. We’re definitely looking forward to welcoming him to the Honey Badgers family.”

Douglas had several standout performances with Guangzhou, including a 31-point, 7-rebound, 7-assist outing against Fujian on March 10. Earlier in his pro career, he turned heads in Hungary with Salgotarjani, posting stat lines such as a 38-point, 12-rebound game against PVSK-Veolia and a 30-point, 9-steal night versus Cegled.
“I’m really excited to join a championship calibre franchise and compete against some of the best in the world,” said Douglas. “I’ve heard nothing but good things about the CEBL and Canada, and I’m looking forward to being able to experience both this summer.”
A seasoned collegiate player, Douglas played six NCAA seasons between Prairie View A&M and Southern Methodist University. In his senior year at Prairie View, he averaged 15.4 points and earned a spot on the All-Southwestern Athletic Conference Second Team.
The signing marks Brampton’s third international import of the offseason, following the acquisitions of NBA champion Quinndary Weatherspoon and former Knicks Summer League big man Amari Kelly.
The Honey Badgers begin their 2025 campaign with a two-game road trip, opening in Montreal on May 18 before facing the Ottawa BlackJacks on May 21. They’ll return to the CAA Centre for their home debut on May 25 against the Scarborough Shooting Stars.
