In a bid to shape global conversations on innovation and emerging technologies, the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Canada’s Minister of Innovation, Science, and Industry, concluded a significant three-day visit to Italy where he participated in discussions with fellow G7 counterparts. The summit, which convened to deliberate on the governance and responsible use of emerging technologies, notably highlighted the pivotal role of artificial intelligence (AI) in shaping future landscapes of industry and society.

Minister Champagne underscored Canada’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safe, secure, and responsible development, deployment, and use of AI. Emphasizing the imperative of building trust in these “frontier technologies,” Champagne reiterated Canada’s stance that trust is foundational to widespread adoption, benefiting both consumers and businesses alike.
Throughout the discussions, a significant focus was placed on supporting micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in integrating AI into their operations.
