City of Mississauga Announces New Commissioner of Corporate Services

The City of Mississauga has appointed Raj Sheth as its new Commissioner of Corporate Services effective May 22, 2023. Sheth has been the City’s Director of Facilities and Property Management Division since 2012. He replaces Shari Lichterman as Commissioner, who recently became Mississauga’s City Manager and Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

“I am pleased to welcome Raj to this new role where he will be able to continue to apply his strong leadership skills as well as his knowledge and experience of more than 20 years in the public sector; the majority of which have been with the City of Mississauga,” said Shari Lichterman, City Manager and CAO. “This role will allow Raj to utilize his expertise in delivering projects and people leadership to advance key city priorities.  He has a strong track record of delivering on key priorities for our City and will be a great addition to our Leadership Team.”

In his role as Commissioner, Corporate Services, Sheth will report to the City Manager/CAO and oversee the following divisions: Facilities and Property Management; Legislative Services/Office of the City Clerk; Information Technology; Corporate Business Services and Enforcement.

These business areas deliver services to residents and provide critical support functions to other City divisions and departments. Sheth has been acting in the role of Commissioner, Corporate Services since February 2023, during the recruitment and selection of Mississauga’s new City Manager and CAO.

Sheth joined the City of Mississauga in 1995 as a Project Manager and has subsequently held several leadership positions within the Facilities and Property Management Division. During this career, he has led the development and redevelopment of much of the City’s community services, transit and administration buildings and facilities. He spent almost four years as Director, Building Construction at the City of Brampton before returning to the City of Mississauga in 2007.  In his most recent role as Director of Facilities and Property Management, which he has held for over a decade, he led all aspects of strategic facilities management including capital, operations, maintenance, corporate security, energy management, realty services and asset management.

Sheth has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering as well as a Masters Certificate in Municipal Leadership from the Schulich School of Business at York University. He is a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario and the National Executive Forum on Public Property.
