Toronto Public Health (TPH) continues to see steady progress in its vaccination efforts. In the last seven days, a total of 40,014 doses were administered, which includes 17,659 first doses and 22,355 second doses.

As of Monday, September 13, at 8 a.m., a total of 4,640,697 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Toronto since the start of the vaccination campaign.

According to TPH’s vaccine dashboard updated this morning, 78.4 per cent of residents 12 years of age and older are fully vaccinated after receiving two doses and 84.2 per cent of eligible residents have received their first vaccine dose.

With school underway, TPH continues to urge residents to get fully vaccinated as soon as possible, if they have not already done so. Residents are also asked to continue following public health measures to protect themselves and the community. This includes staying at home when sick, practising physical distancing and wearing a mask when physical distancing is not possible.

Vaccination remains your best protection against COVID-19 and has been scientifically proven to reduce the likelihood of severe illness, hospitalization, intubation and death. Recent TPH data indicates that case rates among unvaccinated individuals are approximately seven times higher than among those fully vaccinated. The vast majority of those who are in the ICU — more than 90 per cent — are not fully vaccinated.

As of Tuesday, September 14, 157 new infections were reported by TPH for a total of 176,549 cases since the start of the pandemic. Currently 91 people are hospitalized, with 30 in the ICU. To-date, there have been a total of 3,638 COVID-19 deaths in Toronto. A total of 171,295 people have recovered.
