In front of his family and friends, OLG employees and an excited crowd, Derick Smith of Dunnville took a spin on THE BIG SPIN Wheel at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to win $200,000! Derick was the first top prize winner of OLG’s new THE BIG SPIN INSTANT game (#2040).
“My girlfriend Theresa loves THE BIG SPIN game and got me playing it too,” shared Derick, a small business owner. “So when I scratched “SPIN” on my ticket and then saw “BIG SPIN” on the screen at the store, I couldn’t wait to tell her the great news!”
The couple has only been together officially for seven months but their love story has been long in the making. “I’ve known Theresa since high school. I had a big crush on her but we never dated. Now, more than 20 years later, we reconnected on Facebook … and here we are!” smiled Derick.
Together, the couple have five daughters and a menagerie of dogs and cats. “Our dream is to have a house of our own . . . and this win means we can do that,” shared Derrick.
Derick also plans to get some new ink. “My daughter is an artist and has created all the tattoos that I have. I want her to draw me a new one!”
