Today, the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, released the full itinerary for the 2017 Royal Tour to Canada. Their Royal Highnesses will visit Iqaluit, Nunavut, on June 29; Canadian Forces Base Trenton and the village of Wellington in Prince Edward County, Ontario, on June 30; and Ottawa and Gatineau in Canada’s Capital Region on July 1.

Engaging with Indigenous people to learn more about their traditions, opening the spectacular new Canadian History Hall, and witnessing first-hand the technological innovation for which Canada is known around the world: the three-day 2017 Royal Tour to Canada of The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will celebrate who we are, what we have accomplished and the bright future we are building together.

The Royal Couple begin in Nunavut, where they will engage with organizations working to preserve and promote Inuit language and culture. His Royal Highness will hear more about the impacts of climate change in the region, and Her Royal Highness will take part in discussions on women’s health and well-being. Finally, the public is invited to join in a community feast at the beautiful Sylvia Grinnell Territorial Park.

On June 30, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will visit Canadian Forces Base Trenton, where they will meet members of the Canadian Armed Forces, participate in a search and rescue demonstration, and honour Canadians who fell in Afghanistan. Their Royal Highnesses will then proceed to the Wellington Farmers’ Market and the Norman Hardie Winery in Prince Edward County, where they will discuss how farm-to-table agriculture and the “shop local” movement can increase tourism and economic development in a community.

Finally, on July 1, Their Royal Highnesses will start the day by opening the Canadian History Hall at the Canadian Museum of History, then head to Parliament Hill for a spectacular celebration of all things Canadian. The tour continues at the National Arts Centre, where His Royal Highness will open the newly renovated National Arts Centre, highlighting our only national, bilingual, multidisciplinary performing arts centre. This is followed by a visit to Shopify, the Ottawa-based international e-commerce success story. To close out the tour, Their Royal Highnesses will participate in the unveiling of The Queen’s Entrance at Rideau Hall. These new front entrance doors were designed to symbolize 150 years of Canada’s history and are artistically linked to The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Balustrade, unveiled in 2012, that graces the front entrance of Rideau Hall.
