Premier Doug Ford Commemorates Yom Kippur

Yom Kippur

Today, Premier Doug Ford issued the following statement to mark Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement:

“Tonight at sundown, Yom Kippur, known as the Day of Atonement, will begin. Yom Kippur is the holiest day in the Hebrew calendar and is observed by Jewish communities in Ontario and around the world.

Yom Kippur is a time of reflection for the Jewish people, involving solemn prayer, resting from work and fasting from any food or drink. It’s a time of reflection, during which people of the Jewish faith consider the choices they’ve made and the actions they’ve taken over the past year. It also represents an opportunity to plan good deeds for the days ahead and to make amends for any wrongs committed.

I sincerely wish all those observing Yom Kippur an easy fast. As the fast is broken on Wednesday evening, I hope you are able to greet the coming year with confidence and optimism.

G’mar Chatima Tova.”
