TORONTOSept. 27, 2017 /CNW/ – Canadian building owners and tenants can now protect their properties more effectively by instantly and securely providing their 911 Emergency Services with building access, critical information and support as they respond to emergency situations at their locations.

This exciting new initiative enables the 911 Emergency Services to respond with real-time operational intelligence about the emergency at the property and provides them immediate and essential access to buildings.  It also identifies critical systems, hazards, contact personnel and other key information before and during the emergency response.

With instant access to critical building intelligence and physical access, the 911 Emergency Services have greater situational awareness and control that enables them to respond more safely and effectively, and provides enhanced protection to building owners and tenants as well as their underwriters and financial institutions.

This community initiative, delivered by Emergency Response Portal (ERP), is called Project Connect.  One of the central operational elements of the project allows the 911 Emergency Services to use geo-fencing technology to send multi-channel emergency broadcasts directly to the key gatekeepers of commercial buildings, hospitals, schools, utilities and businesses.  Broadcasts can be direct to owners and tenants but they can also, as situations may demand, be sent to multiple recipients by region or industry sector.

In all cases, broadcasts will be received by properties enrolled in ERP’s free or enhanced subscription service and are sent by email, text and voice message to ensure maximum redundancy and likelihood of reaching their intended recipients for their instant awareness of the emergency.

During an emergency, when minutes matter and accurate information is critical, direct communication from 911 Emergency Services to property gatekeepers and tenants is vital.  Registering with Emergency Response Portal makes this direct communication a secure and reliable reality, minimizing property loses and improving occupant safety.

All commercial property owners and tenants can benefit from partnership with their 911 Emergency Services through ERP: schools, campuses, hospitals, office towers, shopping centres, hotels, sports and entertainment facilities, places of worship, multi-unit residential complexes, government facilities, commercial office and retail tenants.

The ERP partnership between building owners, tenants and the 911 Emergency Services is currently being implemented across Canadai. A list of the participating Emergency Services is available upon request.

i ERP is the Presenting Sponsor at Canada’s National Building Owners & Managers Association (BOMA) annual conference currently being held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Sept 27-28, 2017.
