Weekend events and road closures for August 27 to 28

A number of road closures and restrictions will be in effect this weekend in support of events and critical infrastructure work in Toronto.

Event road closures
Eglinton Avenue West, between Marlee Avenue and Dufferin Street, will be closed to vehicle traffic from noon on Friday, August 26 until 2 a.m. on Sunday, August 28, for Sinting Fest on Eglinton West.

Markham Road, between McNicoll Avenue and Passmore Avenue; and Turbina Avenue, between Dynamic Drive and Markham Road, will be closed to vehicle traffic from 10 p.m. on Friday, August 26 until 5 a.m. on Sunday, August 28 for Tamil Fest.

Dundas Street East, between Carlaw Avenue and Logan Avenue, will be closed to vehicle traffic from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m. on Saturday, August 27 for the Leslieville Beer Fest.

Kensington Avenue, between Baldwin Street and St. Andrew Street, will be closed to vehicle traffic from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, August 27 for Toronto Loves Me.

Yorkville Avenue, between Hazelton Avenue and Bellair Street, will be closed to vehicle traffic from noon to 8 p.m. on August 27 and 28 for Yorkville Murals, a cultural event that celebrates contemporary muralism and public art.

Market Street continues to be closed from Front Street East to The Esplanade for I Heart Market Street activities.

Construction closures
Traffic lanes on Queen’s Park, between Bloor Street West and Queen’s Park Crescent, are reduced to accommodate the TTC’s Easier Access (elevator installation) work at Museum Station.

Lake Shore Boulevard West is reduced to a single lane from Jarvis Street to Sherbourne Street until 7 a.m. on Thursday, September 8 to facilitate the Enbridge gas main installation.

The on-ramp from Rees Street to eastbound Gardiner Expressway and one lane on Lake Shore Boulevard East, from Rees Street to Simcoe Street, are closed from 1 to 5 a.m. on Friday, August 26 to facilitate Gardiner inspections.

The on-ramp from Bay Street to eastbound Gardiner Expressway is closed from 1 to 5 a.m. on Monday, August 29 to facilitate Gardiner inspections.

The Queensway has a reduced number of lanes in both directions between Parkside Drive and Roncesvalles Avenue for TTC track replacement and road reconstruction work. King Street West is closed at the King-Queen-Queensway-Roncesvalles intersection, and eastbound left turns are not permitted from The Queensway to Glendale Avenue.

Wellington Street, from Yonge Street to Church Street, is reduced to a single westbound lane and Front Street, from Scott Street to Church Street, is reduced to a single eastbound lane for TTC track replacement and sidewalk improvements.

The Carlton Street and Church Street intersection will remain closed all weekend for streetcar track replacement.

ActiveTO
Bayview Avenue, from Rosedale Valley Road to Lawren Harris Square, and the portion of River Street West, between Bayview Avenue and Spruce Street, will be closed to vehicle traffic from 7 a.m. on Saturday, August 27 until 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 28 for ActiveTO.

Roads within High Park will be closed to vehicle traffic during the weekend. More information about access to High Park is available on the City’s High Park webpage: www.toronto.ca/explore-enjoy/parks-gardens-beaches/high-park/.

Toronto’s more than 1,500 parks and 11,000 hectares of ravine spaces are also open for fresh air and exercise every day, including The Meadoway from Brimley Road to Scarborough Golf Club Road. TTC closures and service disruptions
On Saturday, August 27 and Sunday, August 28, there will be no subway service on the portion of Line 1 between Finch and St. Clair stations due to Automatic Train Control (ATC) signal upgrades.

Metrolinx closures and service disruptions
This weekend, Lake Shore East and West train schedules will be adjusted for the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) to ease crowding at Exhibition GO and provide customers extra time to board their trains. Weekend service adjustments on the Barrie and Stouffville lines will also be in effect during the CNE.

Those who need to drive in the general vicinity of road closures should stay alert, consider alternate routes and allow extra time to get to and from their destinations.
