Savvy business owners create wow factor in their new business set within historic building

Why do entrepreneurs do what they do? For husband and wife team Marly and Greg Anderson, they say … ‘it just feels right’. With over a decade of experience in customer service and a vision of an exciting business venture, the couple developed a strategic business plan and put their dreams into actions with The Grand Victorian. These are the stories and people the governments of Canada and Prince Edward Island count on to grow our local and national economy, which is why both levels of government are supporting this new tourism destination in scenic Victoria-by-the-sea.

The Honourable Wayne Easter, Member of Parliament for Malpeque, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), and the Honourable Heath MacDonald, Minister of Economic Development and Tourism, today announced support for Anderson’s Grand Victorian Inc. The Government of Canada, through ACOA’s Business Development Program, is providing a $115,000 repayable contribution towards renovations and marketing efforts. The Government of Prince Edward Island is providing $175,000 in repayable support and assistance with the creation of the facility’s website.

The Andersons acquired a vacant 140-year old church with over 3,000 square feet of potential. The couple has a major renovation project underway, to create The Grand Victorian as a destination wedding venue equipped to accommodate 120 guests and provide flexibility for indoor and outdoor weddings. When not in use for weddings, the property will be available for social and business rentals as well as overnight accommodations.

“We are thrilled with both our new business venture and our location – the enchanting Victoria-by-the-Sea. This village is a wonderful mix of old-world charm and dynamic businesses, restaurants, and lovely theatre. We have designed the space carefully to be complementary to the setting, and to suit a variety of purposes. Our vision is to provide a first-class service to couples getting married, companies hosting a meeting, or anyone wanting to mark a significant day or event in their life in a beautiful building with historic charm.
