TORONTO, ON – Locations throughout Toronto are helping the planet and the local community by reducing waste and keeping otherwise non-recyclable disposable razors and their packaging out of the landfill.

Through the Gillette Razor Recycling Program, consumers are invited to clean out their bathrooms and bring all brands of disposable razors, replaceable-blade cartridge units and the razor’s plastic packaging to participating locations to be recycled.

Becoming a public drop off location is easy. First, choose a good spot for your public drop off point. It should be located in a popular, easily-accessible area (for instance, a library, a community center, a place of worship, or a retail store). Everyone is welcome to participate. However, if you do not own or manage the location, make sure you have permission to set up the drop off point. The location should be open during daytime hours so people can access the collection box. “Programs like the Gillette Razor Recycling program allows businesses to work within their community and take an active role in preserving the environment, beyond what their local municipal recycling programs are able to provide,” said Tom Szaky, founder and CEO of TerraCycle. “By creating this recycling initiative, our aim was to provide an opportunity where whole communities like Toronto are able to collect waste alongside a national network of public drop-off locations, all with the unified goal to increase the number of recycled disposable razors and reducing their impact on landfills.”
