Five ways to make Valentine’s Day special for everyone

Open to customers all year, 24/7, Rabba Fine Foods has expanded its prepared meals options, which makes for a copious and flavourful option for daily - and special - meals.

Valentine’s Day may be known as the day of love, but that doesn’t only mean romantically. Whether you’re single, coupled up, somewhere in between, or just looking for a fun V-Day activity with a friend, Valentine’s is about celebrating the love, trust and happiness you gain by being surrounded by loved ones. This year, I’ve put together my top five tips on how to regale someone without breaking the bank or adding additional stress to your life.

1.     Family date night. Celebrate the day of love with your entire family. Skip the fancy restaurants and choose instead your favourite kid-friendly spot for dinner. End the evening with a night of skating or stroll around your local walking path or park. You can also keep it budget-friendly with a warm, balanced and prepared meal from your local market like Rabba and set up tableware and place settings in front of your TV to watch a movie or enjoy a board game night at home. Score bonus points, and long term memories, if you have the courage to dress up and opt for a fun family photoshoot.

2.     Girls just want to have fun. Looking to bring your girlfriends together for a day or night of fun? Galentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to enjoy some fun time with the girls with an at-home spa, brunch or even dance classes. Be sure to properly you’re your calendar – Galentine’s Day is February 13!

3.     Old school cards. We may be 2022, but we still have a traditional postal service – and the truth is many of us are tactile and happy to still receive a greeting card. Challenge yourself by buying a sheet of 6 or 10 stamps and sharing a kind word with those who mean the most in your life. Tell them, in your best calligraphy, how much their friendship means to you.

4.     Treat yourself. No matter your relationship status, Valentine’s Day is a fun holiday to celebrate yourself! Spend the day having a date night with yourself. Order a pizza (my favourite is Pizza Nova), drink some wine and watch your favourite shows. Make the day about really treating yourself and don’t be afraid to indulge!

5.     A little treat goes a long way. Perhaps most importantly, don’t make the mistake of thinking you’ve got to break the bank to show your love. Many of our favourite brands have prepared fun, seasonal products and specials to make your life a little less complicated. Baskin-Robbins in our area has already lined up two treats that are sure to please anyone with a sweet tooth. At our home, we’ll be ready to welcome back the Baskin-Robbins Box of Chocolates cake and, if our group expands just a bit, we’ll likely try their newest flavour, aptly called “Secret Admirer!
