Ontario Supporting the Twin Elm Rugby Park

Providing capital funding to support safe sport in eastern Ontario

OTTAWA — The Ontario government is investing $100,000 to support capital repairs and improvements at the Twin Elm Rugby Park in Ottawa.

“The Twin Elm Rugby Park is a popular athletic hub in eastern Ontario, supporting many athletes, coaches, volunteers and visitors across a wide variety of sport disciplines,” said Lisa MacLeod, Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries. “That’s why our government is investing in this premier facility and helping to fund critical infrastructure improvements that will support and stabilize park operations, while ensuring that spectators, teams and players can continue to safely enjoy all this venue has to offer.”

The Twin Elm Rugby Park will use the support for repairs and improvements to keep the park operational and safe for the four major clubs that use the facility, as well as for spectators and other sports teams that have access to its five playing fields. This includes:

  • Repairs to the septic system
  • Interior renovations, including door replacements, change room facilities for women, and door replacements
  • Washrooms
  • New post pads
  • Storage containers
  • Field repairs

“We are extremely appreciative with respect to this grant,” said Robert Orange, president of Twin Elm Rugby Park. “We look forward to implementing the required/recommended upgrades and ensuring the tradition of Twin Elm Rugby Park lives on.”

The government’s investment in sport and recreation infrastructure is part of its commitment to fueling the province’s double bottom line: supporting economic growth and strengthening Ontario’s social fabric.
