Team Toronto administers more than 800,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses across Toronto

The City of Toronto is working with its healthcare partners, pharmacies and Toronto Public Health to administer all available COVID-19 vaccines. To date, 804,008 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Toronto.
Toronto is the first health region in Ontario to administer more than 800,000 doses of vaccine. The Team Toronto effort is focused on getting as many residents vaccinated as quickly as possible based on available supply.
People born in 1961 or earlier, and age 50 or older who live in hot spot neighbourhoods as identified by postal code, can book vaccination appointments online or by phone at City-run COVID-19 immunization clinics. Information on how people from the various eligibility categories can register for vaccination appointments at City-run and/or partner clinics is available on the City’s COVID-19: How to Get Vaccinated webpage: www.toronto.ca/home/covid-19/covid-19-protect-yourself-others/covid-19-vaccines/covid-19-how-to-get-vaccinated/?accordion=vaccine-eligibility.

Following last week’s provincial announcement, the Team Toronto approach is shifting further towards vaccinating essential workers where they live – in areas where there are high COVID-19 case counts. Hospital and healthcare partners have clinics up and running and are vaccinating residents in hot spot neighbourhoods.

Today, for example, Unity Health Toronto will deploy mobile teams to a Toronto Community Housing building, St. Jude’s Community Homes and a Good Shepherd drop-in program in hot spot neighbourhoods, and vaccinate approximately 140 residents age 18 and older.

As of yesterday evening, approximately 281,475 people have booked COVID-19 vaccination appointments at a City-run clinic. There are appointments still available. Eligible residents are encouraged to book an appointment through the dark blue “Book a Vaccine” button on www.toronto.ca/covid-19 with the added option of booking by phone through the Provincial Vaccine Information Line at 1-888-999-6488.
