TORONTO, July 6, 2017 /CNW/ – Mercedes-Benz Canada is pleased to announce that its Fuel Cell Division (MBFC) has made the 2017 List of Best Workplaces in Manufacturing. This accomplishment builds on the company’s growing reputation as a leading Canadian employer, which was highlighted by its recognition in April as one of 2017’s Best Workplaces in Canada.
“In every division and department, and at every level, our organization has been dedicated to creating work environments that set the standard for workplaces across Canada – no matter the industry,” says Nicole Poncelet, Mercedes-Benz Canada’s Director of Human Resources. “It is incredibly gratifying to find out that Mercedes-Benz Canada is being recognized by Great Place to Work® for the second time this year. We spend considerable time and effort on maintaining strong and effective health and safety programs across all of our divisions, in order to ensure our employees remain safe at work every day. It’s great to see these efforts reflected in the positive feedback from our teams – this kind of response certainly strengthens our resolve to make Mercedes-Benz Canada an even better place to work.”
Brian D. Fulton, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada, says of the news: “I could not be more pleased with this result. The changes that we have been implementing at Mercedes-Benz Canada are founded on integrity and a sense of responsibility to our staff. They are informed by our promise to deliver the best possible customer service, which starts with offering the best possible work environment. That MBFC has been recognized among 2017’s Best Workplaces in Manufacturing is yet another sign that, as a company, we are heading in the right direction.”
The 2017 List of Best Workplaces in Manufacturing was compiled based on a thorough independent analysis undertaken by Great Place to Work®, which was based on data including direct feedback from employees of the hundreds of organizations that were surveyed by Great Place to Work®. All companies being recognized for this award must have had their Canadian manufacturing operations certified in the past year, and employees had to return a minimum 90% positive response to the statement “This is a physically safe place to work.” The overall Trust Index score of eligible organizations was also taken into account.
About the Mercedes-Benz Canada Fuel Cell Division
Located in Burnaby, British Columbia, the Mercedes-Benz Canada Fuel Cell Division (MBFC) was opened in 2012, and the more than 50 employees who work in the 3,300-square metre facility have consistently played an instrumental role in the global commercialization of fuel cell technology. It was the first automated automotive facility dedicated to the production of fuel stacks and sub-assemblies, as well as to the advancement of fuel stack production technology. The facility produced its first fuel cell stack on June 7, 2012. Since then, MBFC has worked steadily to hone its manufacturing processes, and a great deal of research has been undertaken to develop future generations of fuel cell stack production. Specifically, the Division’s Common Fuel Cell Program (CFCP) is focused on further refining its manufacturing processes with the goal of reducing production costs. It is also playing a key role in the upcoming implementation of the next Fuel Cell Car Series by Daimler, as well as ramping-up series production in order to deliver the main component fuel cell stack for the GLC F-CELL, which will be launched at the International Automobile Autoshow (IAA) in Frankfurt in September 2017.
