RECAP of Wednesday at the Olympics for Canada

Steven Dubois claims silver in the men's 1,500m short track speed skating event.

Wednesday was a successful day for our Olympic hopefuls.  Canadian athletes added two more medals to our count, putting us in FIFTH place overall in the Olympic Medal Standings.

Here is a RECAP of Wednesday at the Olympics for Canada!

***Meryeta O’Dine of British Columbia won the BRONZE in the Women’s Snowboard Cross Big Final. This was O’Dine’s first Olympic performance. She missed the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang because of a head injury she sustained in training just weeks before the event. This medal was kind of like a redemption for that.

Steven Dubois
finished strong with a time of 2 minutes and 9.254 seconds to claim the SILVER medal in the Men’s 1,500 m Short Track Speed Skating Event. The first time Olympian was so proud to also be a first time Olympic Medalist!

***An ongoing legal issue involving medalists in the Team Figure Skating Competition has caused the award ceremony to be halted.  No medals have been given out as of yet.  The International Olympic Committee said Wednesday that they are looking into an emerging legal issue with one of the top three teams.  That being said, Team Canada finished FOURTH in this event.  Should one of the top three teams get disqualified, it is possible that the Canadian Team will be awarded a medal after all. Stay tuned for more info on this case.

That’s all for Wednesday! Thursday already has more medal possibilities lined up for Canada, so stay tuned!
