The City of Toronto will present its 2017 Access, Equity and Human Rights Awards on Monday in recognition of International Human Rights Day. Awards will be presented to five recipients who have made a difference in helping to eliminate discrimination and barriers to equality in Toronto.
The ceremony will include opening remarks from Mayor John Tory and award presentations by Councillor Joe Mihevc (Ward 21 St. Paul’s), Councillor Mike Layton (Ward 19 Trinity-Spadina), Councillor Lucy Troisi (Ward 28 Toronto-Centre Rosedale), and Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam (Ward 27 Toronto-Centre Rosedale).

Time: 6:30 p.m.
Location: Council Chamber, Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen St. W.
The ceremony will be followed by a reception that will provide an opportunity to meet the individuals and groups that will receive awards. This year’s award recipients will be:
• Percy Lezard, Aboriginal Affairs Award
• SMILE Canada – Support Services, Access Award
• Antree C. Demakos, Constance E. Hamilton Award
• BLOOM (LOFT Community Services), Pride Award
• Julian Diego, William P. Hubbard Award for Race Relations
