Tomorrow, Monday, March 29, the City of Toronto will open two more City-operated COVID-19 immunization clinics at Malvern Community Recreation Centre (Malvern) in Scarborough and Mitchell Field Arena (Willowdale) in North York to vaccinate eligible residents age 70 years or older who have confirmed vaccination appointments.
Today, Mayor John Tory toured the Malvern immunization clinic with Chair of the Toronto Board of Health Councillor Joe Cressy (Spadina-Fort York), local Councillor Jennifer McKelvie (Scarborough-Rouge Park), Medical Officer of Health Dr. Eileen de Villa and Fire Chief and General Manager of the Office of Emergency Management Matthew Pegg.
The clinic will operate seven days per week from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Teams of up to 15 immunizers at a time will work to vaccinate five people per hour per immunizer. The clinic is opening with capacity to vaccinate 675 people per day and the capacity can be expanded as vaccine supply increases.
As of yesterday, the eligibility for COVID-19 vaccine availability at City-operated clinics was expanded to individuals born in 1951 and earlier. Nearly 22,000 new first and second dose appointments were booked at the City-run clinics yesterday. Seniors age 70 or older in 2021 who do not yet have an appointment are encouraged to register to book a COVID-19 vaccination appointment. Eligible seniors can book appointments through the dark blue “Book a Vaccine” button on toronto.ca/covid-19 or book by phone through the Provincial Vaccine Information Line at 1-888-999-6488 (TTY 1-866-797-0007). There continues to be open appointments for eligible seniors available at mass immunization clinics across Toronto, including:
• Metro Toronto Convention Centre, 255 Front St. W.
• Toronto Congress Centre, 650 Dixon Rd.
• Scarborough Town Centre, 300 Borough Dr.
• Malvern Community Recreation Centre, 30 Sewells Rd.
• Mitchell Field Arena, 89 Church Ave.
The mass immunization clinic at the East York Town Centre at 45 Overlea Blvd., operated in partnership with East Toronto Health Partners, will also be accepting bookings for seniors age 70 and older. A seventh City-operated clinic at The Hangar will open on Monday, April 5.
