The Extreme Cold Weather Alert issued on January 17 continues today. The City of Toronto’s Warming Centres are open at the following locations:
• 129 Peter St.
• 5800 Yonge St.
• Exhibition Place, Better Living Centre, 195 Princes’ Blvd.

Following a brief move to accommodate construction, the City’s Warming Centre at the Scarborough Civic Centre, 150 Borough Dr., will resume operations after temporarily operating out of the Centennial Recreation Centre over the weekend.

Scarborough Civic Centre will open for new referrals at 7 p.m. tonight. Service providers and clients can access space by calling Central Intake at 416-338-4766. Walk-ins are also welcome.

Clients currently at the Centennial Recreation Centre will be offered transportation to the Scarborough Civic Centre today.

In addition to the services available at the four Warming Centres, the City’s Streets to Homes Program will continue to dispatch additional 24/7 teams to connect with people living outside and encourage them to come indoors. Throughout the winter, outreach staff hands out blankets, sleeping bags and warm winter clothing.
