The City of Toronto announced today that the new Clark Centre for the Arts will provide free weekend preview tours starting Saturday, October 16 until Sunday, November 21, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The public are encouraged to take a preview tour of the arts facility and its grounds at 191 Guildwood Pkwy., in Guild Park and Gardens, ahead of the official opening in 2022. Visitors can enjoy a variety of indoor and outdoor tours led by the centre’s lead architect, curators and community specialists.
In the 45-minute, time-ticketed preview tours, the public may access three gallery exhibitions, community information hubs, artist demonstrations, outdoor theatrical performances and guided park strolls.
The tours were developed and are provided in partnership with Friends of Guild Park, Guildwood Community Village Association, Guild Festival Theatre and Guild Renaissance Group, with all indoor tours providing access to artist demonstrations, and gallery exhibitions by Native Child and Family Services, Scarborough Arts, Sir Wilfrid Laurier Collegiate Institute and the Toronto District School Board (TDSB).
Tours are subject to Toronto Public Health and Provincial COVID-19 safety guidelines and regulations. Physical distancing, mask-wearing and proof-of-vaccination protocols will be in effect. Advance registration is required online at https://efun.toronto.ca or by calling 416-396-7378.

Indoor tours will provide access to live woodcarving, printmaking and fibre arts demonstrations by professional visual artists, and include admission to the following gallery exhibitions:
• Aanii! Indigenous Youth Art Exhibit presented by Native Child and Family Services (first floor gallery)
• Dear Queer Scarborough presented by Scarborough Arts (second floor gallery)
• Student Photography & Film Showcase presented by the TDSB and Sir Wilfrid Laurier Collegiate Institute (Digital Lab and third floor gallery)

Construction of the Clark Centre for the Arts began in the spring of 2019 and was completed in late spring 2021. The more than 9,000 square foot arts centre is currently closed to the public.
The City conducted community consultations from December 2015 to October 2016, collecting information from a variety of stakeholders to inform and guide the planning for The Clark Centre for the Arts. Architectural services were provided by Taylor Hazell Architects.
