Inquest into the Death of Ryan Pearce Announced

Dr. David Eden, Regional Supervising Coroner for Inquests, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Ryan Pearce.

Mr. Pearce, 19, died on Sept. 9, 2014, from injuries sustained while working on home renovations at a construction site in Toronto. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Pearce’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last five days and to hear from approximately 10 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at the Forensic Services and Coroner’s Complex, Court Room B, 25 Morton Shulman Ave., Toronto.  Dr. Geoffrey Bond will preside as inquest coroner and Liesha Earle and Troy Harrison will be counsel to the coroner.
