Mississauga’s Winter Programs are ‘Snow’ Much Fun! Register Soon

Don’t let the cold days and winter blues keep you from visiting your nearest Mississauga community centre or library for fun over the next few months. Staying active, learning new skills and socializing with other residents is a great way to stay engaged in your community throughout the colder months.

Starting this Sunday, November 27 at 6 a.m., you can view programs, classes and activities, and Winter and March Break camps. With the new improvements to the Active Mississauga website, you can complete your online transaction more quickly by marking activities as “favourites” in advance of registration opening up on December 5. The Active Mississauga system has been upgraded to provide residents with an easier experience to browse, enrol and register for programs, activities, rentals and more. The user experience is easier than ever!

“The City has an important role in providing residents with programs that enrich their lives on a daily basis,” says Jodi Robillos, Commissioner of Community Services. “It’s important for all members of the community to have the opportunity to stay active, pursue creativity and learn about the topics or hobbies that interest them. Exploring the new Active Mississauga website is a great way to get started.”

Ready, Get Set, Register!

For sports, recreation, culture and library programs, registration for residents begins on Monday, December 5 at 6 a.m., while registration for non-residents begins on Monday, December 12 at 6 a.m.

In-person registration will be available during service desk hours at facility and library locations.

Get out of Your Comfort Zone

We’re offering exciting activities and programs to ensure residents have a wide selection of programs to choose from:

• Lecture Me! Online Series: Attend free monthly lectures by University of Toronto Mississauga faculty members as they highlight their research in a fun and approachable way. Register here.

 Hot Glass Level 1 at the Living Arts Centre (18+): This hands-on class introduces the art of glassblowing! Learn skills and techniques for gathering and shaping molten hot glass into various forms. Projects focus on building strong fundamentals in shaping glass and adding colour. Make pieces like paperweights, cups or bowls.

• Winter Fun Camp Experience Over the Holidays: Camps aren’t just for summertime. This winter, explore activities in areas like arts and crafts, sports, drama, outdoor play and theme-based activities. Participants will be outside daily and need to dress accordingly.

• Multi Sport Development at Courtneypark Activity Centre: An introduction to the fundamentals of basketball, floor hockey and soccer. Development will focus on skills, drills, fair game play and the overall interaction with other children in a sport environment.

Thinking About March Break Plans Already?

Parents know that it is never too early to plan for March Break. It’s important to note that March Break camp registration will also be available to view as of Sunday, November 27. Choose your camp and register starting Monday, December 5. Spots are limited, so don’t wait to log on and secure your spot!

A Gift that Keeps on Giving

Recreation gift cards make gift giving easy for all ages. They can be used at arenas, museums and community centres for drop-in and registered programs. They are reloadable and don’t expire. Make it a Winter to Remember

Regardless of the program or activity you or your family members sign up for, there is something for everyone to enjoy! The City’s instructors and customer service representatives are committed to offering you a safe and healthy environment to thrive and learn.

Recreation, Culture and Library winter programs start the week of January 7, 2023 and will take place at various community facilities across the city like community centres, pools, arenas, libraries, museums and Living Arts Centre.
