The Ontario Trillium Foundation invites all nonprofits to contribute and learn from the newly launched Knowledge Centre, Ontario’s first platform to connect the nonprofit sector to advance shared learning among funders, practitioners and other community stakeholders.
TORONTO, April 12, 2018 /CNW/ – Today, the Ontario Trillium Foundation invites the nonprofit sector to connect with the Knowledge Centre, an online community with a shared learning environment.
This online resource hosts a discussion forum, and provides access to knowledge products including reports, videos, infographics, and more to foster community engagement, collaboration and learning.
“The Knowledge Centre is a unique forum that fosters effective and strategic networking opportunities with like-minded organizations,” said Jehad Aliweiwi, Executive Director the Laidlaw Foundation. “This is a much-needed platform, open to all, where organizations will collaborate and learn – two principles that are increasing wellbeing in the nonprofit sector.”
The discussion forums are centered around issues, opportunities and themes of community wellbeing. There are also discussions around topics critically important to the sector including evaluation, measurement, and Open Data.
“We heard from the sector that an online resource has been needed for many years, and our hope is that this new Knowledge Centre will provide a valuable venue for the nonprofit community,” said Katharine Bambrick, CEO, Ontario Trillium Foundation. “I believe the conversations started, the resources shared, and the connections made through the Knowledge Centre will change the landscape of public benefit work in Ontario and beyond.”
The Knowledge Centre is hosted by the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s subject matter experts from its partnership and knowledge mobilization team. Their mandate is to facilitate knowledge sharing, build communities of practice, and foster an online environment for peer-to-peer learning.
Over time, the Knowledge Centre will build a broad array of online resources in support of community work in the nonprofit sector.
“Like the Ontario Nonprofit Network, the Ontario Trillium Foundation is interested in connecting nonprofits, and building the capacity of the sector,” said Cathy Taylor, Executive Director of the Ontario Nonprofit Network. “This Knowledge Centre is a great new tool that will contribute to strengthening the sector. We encourage nonprofits to make the most of this resource.”
