Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada Pierre Poilievre has sent a letter to Elon Musk and Twitter asking that the CBC be Labeled as a State funded media organization.
In a letter posted on Twitter the leader of the opposition writes “I am writing in respect of Twitters practice of identifying certain accounts as Government-funded Media”
Government funded media is defined as outlets where the government provides some or all of the outlets funding and may have varying degrees of government involvement over editorial content.
Poilievre states that the CBC has admitted to receiving over $1.24 billion dollars from the Canadian Government and thus according to Twitter policy should be labeled as State Funded Media.
We must protect Canadians against disinformation and manipulation by state media.
That is why I’m asking @Twitter @elonmusk to accurately label CBC as “government-funded media”.

Pierre Poilievre is in a fight to be the next Prime Minister of Canada and has not stopped his attacks against the current PM Justin Trudeau since he became the leader of the Conservative party and the official opposition.
Polls suggest that if the race was held today Pierre Poilievre would defeat Justin Trudeau and become Canada’s next Prime Minister.
