TORONTO — Today, Premier Doug Ford and John Tory, Mayor of Toronto, had a regular meeting where several important items were discussed. Premier Ford issued the following statement about the meeting:”I am always happy to sit with Mayor Tory and discuss the issues that matter most to the people of Ontario and Toronto, and today was no different. We have a lot of shared interests to make sure Ontario and Toronto are open for business and open for jobs.

As I have said from day one, I am committed to delivering better transit to the people of Ontario, and that means getting new subways built. I am glad to have had another productive discussion with Mayor Tory on this critical file.

We also discussed the importance of ensuring a strong business environment in the city. As Canada’s largest city, it is essential that we create the conditions necessary for businesses to grow, create good jobs and build our economy.

Lastly, we spoke about the Government of Ontario’s commitment to our police services, including our investments in combating guns and gangs across the province. In Toronto alone, we are providing $25 million to help give police the tools they need to keep our streets safe.

I am encouraged by these meetings that the Mayor and I hold regularly, and I look forward to our next meeting where we can get even more accomplished for the great people of Ontario, and Toronto.”
