Today, Premier Doug Ford issued the following statement to mark the beginning of Rosh Hashanah:
“This evening at sundown, the Jewish community across Ontario and around the world will begin the celebration of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.
This is an important time for the Jewish community to reflect on the year gone by and what matters most – especially the health, safety, and well-being of our loved ones.
Although this past year has brought some challenges, now is the time to look to the future at the sound of the shofar and count all the many blessings that have brought us to this moment of reflection and renewal.
Despite celebrations taking on a different appearance this year, I know that the spirit of Rosh Hashanah will continue to bring hope to the Jewish community.
May this new year bring health, peace, and prosperity for all of the families celebrating these High Holy Days. Shana Tova!”
