TORONTO ― Today, Premier Doug Ford issued the following statement to mark Vaisakhi and Sikh Heritage Month:

“Today, the Sikh community in Ontario and around the world will celebrate Vaisakhi, the birth of Khalsa, one of the holiest days of Sikhism. It’s a time for families to come together to pray, share meals and take part in Nagar Kirtan processions.

Ontario is so proud to be home to such a thriving Sikh community of more than 300,000 people.

That’s why, every April, we recognize Sikh Heritage Month, commemorating Sikh traditions and culture and celebrating the community’s many accomplishments and contributions to our province.

Whether you are visiting a Gurdwara today, spending time at home with family or attending special events honouring the Sikh faith, culture, or arts, I wish you all peace, prosperity, and a very happy Vaisakhi!”
